Card with Chris Durnan's Love Bird Card Set file

This lovely file is part of Chris's Quarterly Membership Club files. The QMC is still available in Chris's store. You can find the membership here. I used the gatecard option with this file. I inked the base card with pink before attaching the Love Birds. I used a rubber stamp to stamp the love definition on the heart, then inked it with purple to make it stand out a little. Another beautiful file from Chris!

Valentine using #CD00308

Tonight I created a Valentine for my sweetie using the Heart Jumble #CD00308.  I have loved this file from day one and have used bits and pieces of it on various projects.  Love the shape of those hearts!  I cut a file so that it opened up instead of sideways.  I ran it through my Cuttlebug using a Tim Holtz embossing folder.  I placed the cut out on the card so that it lined up so I'd be able to write on three lines "i love u!" with a black 03 pen.  I stamped a $1 cupid stamp from Michaels onto tan paper.  Colored with Copics (Sorry - after I took the photo, I added two little white dogs with a white gel pen on his cheeks.)  and punched out with a 2 1/2" circle punch.  Then I mounted onto black that I cut with 3" scallop punch which was all pop dotted to the card.  Added some tan ribbon (looks gold in the photo).  Burned the edges so it doesn't ravel.  Then stuck two Heidi Grace pins down into the pop dot.   Added a little strip of black punched with a Fiskars border punch.   On the inside, I used two of the hearts with ribbon and a pin.  ~Angie~ (Missouri) ~I am blessed!!~ This file can be purchased here. Wave Runner using waves from #CD00748 (Swimming in the Lake)

A simple layout...  Pup pages are 8x8 so it doesn't leave much room if you have more than one photo.  I cut two waves from #CD00748 (Swimming in the lake) from VDBC in coordinating colors.  Title is cut using Quickutz Maggie.  I used my Accu-cut to cut the wavy rick rack and I used the negative portion of it along the bottom of the layout to sort of frame the photos.  The little bling are nail jewels that are shaped like droplets.  They are not adhesive but I quickly made them so with my little Xyron 150.  White Zig chalk Writer for journalling. ~Angie~ (Missouri) ~I am blessed!!~ Visual Designs by Chris Creative Team Member http://visualdesignsbychris.com (all images are cut using the Blue Wishblade)

Her favorite spot/Abby using #CD00418

The title is created using a VDBC file #CD00418 called 2008 Favorites.  The original word was favoriteS but I was easily able to trim off the S.  The "her" and "SPOT" are quickutz fonts.  I punched two different sized circles and sewed them on.  Used various Distress inks to match just the right color to the patterned paper.  Found the little strip of brown border in my scrap drawer.  It was cut with a Fiskars border punch for another project.  Added some ribbon in a visual triangle.  I chose the patterned paper because they both have circular accents to reinforce the theme.  The i of favorite just called for something so I added a patterned mini brad. ~Angie~ (Missouri) ~I am blessed!!~ Visual Designs by Chris Creative Team Member http://visualdesignsbychris.com (all images are cut using the Blue Wishblade)

Love frame using #CD00810 Hearts

Chris/VDBC gave away a free file this morning and it included hearts.  I had been wanting to do this frame for my office so it was perfect timing.   I have been learning my Photoshop Elements over the last few weeks also.  The photo is one 4x6 photo that I blended two photos into one.  The ribbon, her name and the flowers are all a part of the printed photo and were free elements within the program.  I added buttons on the outside of the glass to give it a 3D effect.  The frame came with the metal word love on the frame. I added three of the hearts.  The words "this pup!" are cut with Quickutz Olivia font.  Added some bling including a jewel for the dot in the i and the point of the exclamation.  I added glossy accents to the hearts.  So fun!  I have a lot of photos in my office - each of my dogs are included in the family gallery.  *wink*  Just hadn't gotten Zoey's done.  This will be a great addition!   Thanks for the file and the kick in the seat to get this done, Chris! ~Angie~ (Missouri) ~I am blessed!!~ Visual Designs by Chris Creative Team Member http://visualdesignsbychris.com (all images are cut using the Blue Wishblade)

LO: Snow Dog

I used a variety of cutting systems to create this layout of our precious Abby.  Difficult photos to scrap.  She passed 19 months ago but seeing the photos still brought an instant sting to the eyes.    Hat:  Cut from Cricut Winter Wonderland cartridge on the Cricut Expression.  I blended a little Tattered Rose ink from Ranger along the edges for a bit of dimension.  I had wanted to use the puffy liquid applique for the fur but I was out of white so I used diamond Stickles.  Added a line of white bling to the hat and a blue jewel to the center of the snowflake.  Popdotted the fur ball on the end of the hat.    Title:  SNOW was cut using Visual Designs by Chris file #CD00386 on my blue Wishblade.  I cut this at only one inch tall but it cut so cleanly!  The file is one word all attached but I just sort of pulled them apart so I could have individual letters, which I popdotted.  "dog" is Quickutz Phoebe font.    Snow papers were just some scraps I had in the drawer.  The white background paper was Keeping Memories Alive from 2000.  LOL   Background:  Used Versamark ink to stamp a PSX snowflake stamp.  Then on the ones that had the center showing, I added a small white jewel.    Additional things:  scrap of ribbon (tip:  rather than wrap the entire layout in ribbon, I tied a knot with a smaller piece and then just wrapped about an inch on each end to the back and adhered it down.  Don't forget to cinge the edges so they don't ravel.)  A square paperclip with a little jewelry tag cut from a Quickutz die.  Date written this a Navy Zig Writer.    When cutting the hat, it took a few tries to get the width I wanted so I used the extra pieces to create a couple of cards.  ~Angie~ (Missouri) ~I am blessed!!~ Visual Designs by Chris Creative Team Member http://visualdesignsbychris.com

Christmas Thank You Card

Had a creative morning.  Made six of these thank you notes.  I had my Wishblade and Cricut cutting at the same time.  I created the card from the Joys of the Season cartridge.  Used the card feature and the holly cut at 5".  Can I say that I think the card feature is my favorite of all of the features!  I combined the card with a title from VIsual Designs by Chris.  #CD00177 is Thanksgiving Titles 2 but I just used the "THANKS" part of the title:   http://www.visualdesignsbychris.com/store/product.php?productid=16864&cat=0&page=1   I colored the holly with Copics YG03 and YG63.  Added two lighter and one dark jewel.  I used 2" and 2 1/2" circles to create the red around the holly circle.  Cutting the 2" first and then the 2 1/2".  The depth of the punches would not allow a perfect circle in a circle but I decided I liked the offset look better anyway.   It looks as if it layers behind but actually lays right on top.  It still needed a little something so I cut a 2 1/2 circle from black diamond dust and backed it from the inside.  This led me to cut the title in black.  Added a sheer green ribbon.  I didn't recognize the clearance tag so not sure where I got it.  Be sure to burn the edges of the ribbon after tying so they don't fray.      Here's a tip:  I cut the title on heavier cardstock and only at 3/4".  I didn't want to cut too many times to mangle it - the Wishblade has a tendency to do that on me - so I cut it and then sanded the back of it lightly and it helped to separate the lettering from the background a little more cleanly.   ~Angie~ (Missouri) ~I am blessed!!~ Visual Designs by Chris Creative Team Member http://visualdesignsbychris.com

Hello all,   I had a crazy fall and finally had a little time to finish this layout.  Let's scrap sketch bazzill cardstock patterned paper Bo-Bunny Fonts 2 peas Essential and Fragile flowers Visual Designs by Chris -  Our cutting machine make flowers so easy.   Just cut a few shapes and size and layer them up.   Easy Peezy!  Misc. twine and buttons. New layout created using files from QMC

This layout uses a few files from the last QMC that Chris magically creates every quarter. Chris designs the most amazing files but I really like her "Sparkle" files. This layout uses CD00786 - Holiday Sparkles and CD00790 - I Believe .

 

Styles and textures have been added to the cutter files to add dimension and interest.

Puppy Love is Real!

You know I love using bits of Visual Designs by Chris' files to create layouts.  On this one, I used two and then some other mixed in media.  I used the hearts from #CD00654 The Kitchen is the Heart of the Home.  BUT, because I am a frugal scrapper, I was using scraps and didn't get a large enough piece... uggghhh....  so, the heart to the right had the edge cut off.  A popped up punched heart easily fixed that.  Whew!  And added a little texture to the layout.  Then I used the "LOVE" from #CD00690 Love the Arts.  I could not totally ungroup the files to just get the word so I cut it as close to the bottom of the WB screen as possible and then trimmed it out.  Love it!  Puppy is cut using my Quickutz Star alphabet.  "is Real!!" are stickers from Paper Studio (Hobby Lobby).  Bling:  heart and butterfly bling from a gem pack in the $1 bin at Michaels.  A few little gems on the punched heart are Paper studio.  The swirly bling is Prima.  Drew in the butterfly antennaes and wrote Valentine's Day 2010 at the top with a black 01 pen from Prismacolor.  My favorite black pens ever!    Happy New Year to everyone! ~Angie~ (Missouri) ~I am blessed!!~ Visual Designs by Chris Creative Team Member http://visualdesignsbychris.com (all images are cut using the Blue Wishblade)

I wanted a way to dress up a gift card so I thought why not make an explosion box? So I made the box, but it was a little plain. Chris's Santa from her QMC was the perfect addition to spruce up the box. I loved him on the card, but he's even cuter in miniature on the top of the box.

The other project uses Chris's Winter Cupcake Wrappers. That file collection can be found here. This set includes four great wrappers. I cut the tree wrapper and backed the trees with green. I rolled up a pair of fuzzy socks and fastened them with a rubber band. To make it look more like a cupcake, I put a small pompom on the top.

Christmas Card with Chris's file

I just loved this snowman that is part of Chris's QMC. I cut him and layered him on a white decorative mat with inked edges. Then I put him on a gate fold card. i used a rubber stamp to stamp a greeting inside the card. I just love how cute he is!

Stationery Box

I've been on vacation this last week and worked on this a few days.  It was so much fun to make.  Felt so good to play!  It is a birthday gift for my closest friend.  I saw the idea several m here:  http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/stationerybox/ I did not follow her design exactly and I used mod podge all over it so it held up a bit better.  I also didn't have double sided thicker paper that matched so I xyroned the papers I wanted to use to a white sheet of cardstock.    Visual Designs by Chris files used were #CD00306 Whimsical Flowers, #CD00630 Hannukah Tags and #CD00686 Oversided Square envelope.    The inspiration for the theme was from the Mary Englebreit items I picked up in the dollar bin at Michaels.    Other items used:    Stamps:  Studio G alpha, To & From were from Stamp Affair Distress inks:  Worn Lipstick, Crushed Olive & Antique Linen DMC Thread & Buttons (I most always thread them for a more finished look) Ribbon:  red is scrap I had and the green with flowers is from Michaels (remember to burn the edges so they don't ravel *smile*) Bling Square postage stamp punch:  McGill ... If you do not have a punch, you could use #CD00542 Postage Stamp borders.   The stamp envelope started with the large square envelope from #CD00686 but I resized it and made it rectangular.  You can adjust many of the files to suit your need!  I velcroed this to the bottom flap.    The tags and cards were created with scrap papers left over from cutting out everything for the box.    Including several photos so you can see all the detail.  Love details!!  I can't wait to give it to her!  ~Angie~ ~I am blessed!!~ Visual Designs by Chris Creative Team Member http://visualdesignsbychris.com (all images are cut using the Blue Wishblade)

Christmas invite using a part of #CD00630 Hanukkah tags

This is my invite to my Life ConneXtion group for our Christmas gathering.  As always a lot of mixed media.  Started with craft cardstock.  Using up some of my 8 1/2 x 11 stash.  I like to use bits of files to create something.  In this one I only used the background image of the Hanukkah tag from Visual Designs by Chris #CD00630.  I cut an ornamental design using my Tim Holtz Sizzix die.  The tab is a McGill punch.  This patterned paper is old old old.  Some of the first paper I purchased when I started scrapbooking in 1997.  LOL  Love when I can use some old treasures.  Distress inks on all paper edges:  tea dye, crushed olive and pine needles.  Stamps:  The Merry Christmas stamp was a $1 wood stamp from Michaels.  The tree is a clear stamp from a $1 holiday set at Michael's. It didn't have a trunk on the stamp so I just hand cut one.  "I believe" was one of my first stamps purchased way back in the early 90s.  It is from Raindrops on Roses.  I used Memento Rich Cocoa Inks to stamp everything since I used Copics to color my tree.  Copics:  YG03 YG06 and Y06.  Just scribbled the color on fast since I was cutting it out to pop dot it. The poinsetta flowers were clearanced at Michaels this summer. $1 each and I used the pine needles ink to tone down the bright green of the leaves.  Rhinestones on the flower instead of using the brads that came with them. I  used the brads off to the side of the tag.  Those are yellow rhinestones on the tree.  Sort of looks like eyelets in the photo.  Those would work too.  All rhinestones were from the $1 bin at Michaels.  I used Hero Arts Dazzle Glue on the tree star.  I purchased it so long ago, I am surprised it was still useable.  *smile*.  Still needed something so I added stitching around the edges with a chocolate Zig writer and this pretty green ribbon.  Remember to burn the edges with a lighter so they don't ravel.   Done!  It felt good to sit in my studio and create! ~Angie~ ~I am blessed!!~ Visual Designs by Chris Creative Team Member http://visualdesignsbychris.com (all VDBC images are cut using the Blue Wishblade)
