Friends and family card

I made this card to send to my SIL with a special note of love and thanks in it for her. She lives with her mother and cares for her and I know that can be difficult.

The "Friends" was taken from Chris' "Good Friends are Angels on Earth" file. The scalloped paper was cut using Sam and Hailey Designs "Stand up Tag" file and the flower and stem is from Shelly's Art "Playful flowers, leaves and branches" file. The flower charms and corner charm are from A Charming Place.

Chris's Ornaments & Tree

This is another layout in my hubby's album of our puppy. I used Chris's Ornaments & Tree file, which you can find here. I just love the trees in this set. Please check out the entire set as this is just one small piece of that file set.

Christmas Tags

Wrapping gifts to Godparents from the girls... this paper had some different colors in it. I used file #CD00406 to create tags that matched my packages perfectly! Added some jewels for punch. Used a stamp and some embossing powder for the TO: Ribbon for fun.

two layouts

I have been working on a small flip album for hubby of our Annabelle. I used one of Chris's files on each of these layouts. One uses her Reindeer file. I added Diamond Glaze to his nose and pen stitching on his antlers and muzzle.

The other layout uses her Snow title. This is one of the over 20 files in this quarters cutting membership group. Have I mentioned what a great value that is, btw? $20, and a minimum of 20 files - that's a steal! If you haven't signed up for her quarterly club yet, do! You won't regret it! A new quarter signup will be available soon.

Crafty Time

It's been a while but I managed to get some crafting done in between Halloween and Guy Folks night, the only downside is that it wasn't the fabbi new print & cut file Chris let me play with due to my printer playing up :( Never mind it should be better soon, Chris uploaded the lovey Son scroll frame in one of her past membership club plus the new Tigerlily file and I think they really go well. I thought seen as the picture was so large and the files really detailed it made the page more striking.

Again this file was from a previous membership but I saw the pop up card template and new it would work really well, I think this may be the Carruthers family Christmas card as it's so fun!

fall card

I made this fall card with Chris Durnan's challenge files. I added glittered embossing powder to the pumpkin and the word fall. I hoped they would show more clearly in the scan that hubby did for me, but it's not very clear. Don't you just love all the challenge files Chris made?

A birthday card

Ages ago, Chris had shared a file with various tags in it. I resized one of the tags, ran them through my printer using the 2Peas Mister Giggles font (my favorite) and created this cute card. I used some of those pre-made cards at JoAnns that I used my 40% off coupon on about a year or so ago. Sewed the edges for more texture. Added some wire, primas and mini brads. Fairly quick and easy. Oh yeah, just a touch of black ink to make the tag pop a bit. (Stazon).

A fun Thanksgiving Card

Here's a card using some VDBC files!

This one used the pilgrim hat from #CD00172 and the Share Your Blessings file. Van Dyke brown ink pad and a few mini brads. I had already put my cutter away when I had the afterthought to add the parenthesis so I used my Quickutz but Chris has some parenthesis along with a lot of other symbols in her Essentials file #CD00277. I also changed this a bit and just used my square punches for the buckle instead of cutting the buckle since it was such a small element. I love when I can mix and mingle my supplies. A little doodling along the edge with a chocolate brown Zig - one of my staple supplies!

Hi Everyone!

Sorry it's been so long since I posted. First I spent a wonderful week and a half in KY. Had a great time at the retreat, but got sick while I was there. Went to the Doctor there last Monday and found out that I had pneumonia. It's been a rough week to say the least..
Anyway, wanted to show you a page I got accomplished while I was there. This is for the ongoing challenge, here's what I came up with:
The leaf border cuts awesome. I can see this file being used a lot here! :)
Have a great day!

swirl bracket

It turned cold here in Iowa, so it felt nice to work on a summery page. These are my kids playing with water guns. I used 2 of Chris's files. The swirl bracket is from the challenge pack, and the Just for fun title. The other supplies are KI patterned paper, autumn leaves journal stamp and miscellaneous orange cardstock.

Challenge File

Chris has already posted this on her blog but thought I'd add it here too. I used the spider web from her October Challenge file (go to her blog to get it ;-)). I'm in a planner swap and have October. Will be making 13 of this babies :). The October title is from Shirley Clark one of the designers at Paperthreads.

Happy Harvest Card

This one uses the pumpkin from #CD00363. Since our auction is November 1 (after Halloween), I wanted to make it more fall and less Halloween so I didn't cut out the witches hat that was a part of the design and just trimmed the shadow as needed. Sharing two photos so you can see how I stamped the greeting so it could be read opened and closed. More chalking. Also added a bit of chocolate brown Zig writer and a white glaze pen for highlights. I chose to off-set the vines instead of matting them directly on the shadow for a bit of a fun look. Rounded edges of the card and added a bit of scrap patterned paper. I'm a stickler for tiny details... since I couldn't sew the buttons on without seeing the thread on the back, I stictched the thread and then glue dotted the buttons to the card. More Van Dyke brown ink. (my fave!)

Fall cards

Our church is having an auction so I decided to make a couple of sets of cards (four to a set with envelopes to match). This first one uses the pumpkin from the Pumpkin Patch #CD00155. A bit of chalk to the cutouts and a tag from the computer made with 2peasMisterGiggles. Raffia as a tie. Van Dyke Brown ink. I used a God Bless You! stamp on the inside.

Badlands

My family took a vacation in summer 2007 to South Dakota. I am almost finished with the album. Only 1 year behind, that's not bad, is it? This page is of my family climbing the rocks in the badlands. If you look closely at the bottom photos, you can even see me. A rare site on pages! Enjoy!

Supplies used:
Kelly panncci papers
Autumn Leaves date stamp
Bazzill cardstock
colorbox ink
Chris Durnan's Badlands GSD file

Happy 4th of July

I know, I know... It's a bit past the 4th of July, but I just realized I never posted this layout. I love these sets that Chris does with borders and swirls, and mats! I had to use this for my 4th of July layout.

Halloween Booooooook!

The last page cut out is from one of Chris's fabby file's

I thought it was time I shared my latest project, I just love Halloween & we don't celebrate it as well as the U.S but ever since living next door to a wonderful American family about 7 years ago I truly caught the bug I'm glad to say :) We now decorate the whole house, I make fabby treats for the visitors and I always try to do a special layout of the kids but this time I wanted a bag book, it's been a work in progress for a few weeks but it's finally ready for this years guysing.

new project - word book

Here is a project I finished using Chris's word book files. I love how easy the book cuts and how easily everything went together. The pictures are small, so just in case you can't tell, the book spells Bikes.

Card to share

I have a new card to share. I used Chris's file - Love My Coffee - which you can find here.

The stamped phrase reads:

I gave up coffee, sex and chocolate.

It was the worst 10 minutes of my life.

I also used a coffee ring stamp on the background in a cream color.
Chris's file also comes with a great title "Love My Coffee" and a matte for the title. Hop on over to Paperthreads.com and check it out!

Magical Memories - Clear Scraps album

The initial idea for this came from a class at Scrap St. Louis. They were introducing us to their acrylic albums. The front cover was just a patterned paper Mickey and this file Chris created was perfect to add some pizazz!

Goal!

Do you remember this Layout? I entered it into the Iowa State Fair and won a White Ribbon! I just wanted to share with everyone. A big thanks to Chris for the fantastic Title! Check it out here! Goal!

New Wheels!

I used three of Chris's files for this layout - New Wheels!. her Helmet file, and her motorcycle file. My hubby bought a motorcycle earlier this month, and I thought these files were perfect. I kept the colors neutral, since his bike and helmet are black, but if you look at the sample cut files here:

and

you can definitely see that these files can be made as personalized as you want for your rider. The New Wheels! file also comes with a tricycle, but I didn't think hubby would approve of that on this layout. :)

Happy crafting!

Another challenge file idea

I just finished painting my kitchen recently and it just need a little extra added touch to it.
I had thought about purchasing border, but then Chris came out with her new design challenge.
That hen just kind of POPPED out at me. That's when the ideas started flowing! Why not make my own border out of vinyl? I had brown already but needed some tan. Then decided that I could add the grass file. I jumped on over to the paperthreads store, ordered the vinyl I needed. I couldn't believe it when the vinyl arrived 3 days later. Talk about fast service!! Anyway, here's what I came up with.
Hope you enjoy!

Blessed!

I attend a retreat twice yearly in Berea, Kentucky. I've been doing this for the past 3 years and have made many great scrap friends thru that time. These photos were taken at the retreat in April of this year. I can't wait until the Fall retreat roles around!! 3 days of fun filled scrapping! Seeing old friends and making new ones. That's what it's all about! When I saw the Friends file in the challenges, I knew they were just meant for this layout. :)

I started out doing on simple layout. Before I knew it, the ideas were rolling ! Next thing I knew, I had 3 completed. Am I finished yet? Probably not. :) It was just too hard to decide which ones to enter. I hope you enjoy seeing these half as much as I enjoyed doing them!!! Until next time, Happy Scrapping!!!

p.s. for Easter 1993

I meant to add on my post that I actually used some of the negatives of the flowers on the square punchouts. Added a little bling and buttons for flowers centers. I love the coordinating files that Chris designs.

Easter 1993

This is my first post on a blog. Hope I'm doing this right. I used Flower Borders Set http://www.paperthreads.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=3412 and Flower Jumble 2 http://www.paperthreads.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=3455. These made this layout quick and easy yet very pretty. Having a teenage daughter, I am so glad I have old photos to go back and scrap. *smile* She was so sweet here!
