Christmas card with Chris Durnan's cutter file

I used one of Chris's Christmas greeting files from her Quarterly Club Membership to cut the perfect Packer greeting for this snowman stamp. Colored in the stamp, inked the edges of the card and layered the greeting on top of the stamp. Check out Chris and all her fantastic files here.

Merry Christmas!

December: Gift for coworkers

These are my gifts for work.  I created the jar top label In Photoshop Elements using two Visual Designs by Chris files:  #CD00955 for the words Merry Christmas and #CD00898 Side cut ornaments - I used the bell.   Added a little text "from the McGoverans" in a cute font.   I made 12 to a page since I had 24 to make.  I made them so they would fit the top of the jar lid then used a 2" circle punch to punch out the label.  Added a few red jewels, a ribbon and threaded a green button to add to the ribbon.  Inside is peach butter made by my ma from their peach tree.  This may be the last year for work gifts.  When I started, I only had five co-workers.  We are now up to 25 counting myself.

layout using Chris Durnan's cutter file

I used Chris's skeleton file from her Quarterly Membership Club to embellish this layout. This is a picture of some of the ladies dressed up to greet the Trick or Treat -ers at our office. I layered the skeletons on a piece of inked cardstock and put that on a piece of patterned paper. Don't forget you can find Chris HERE!

Thanks for looking!

Hanging Stocking Card/Envelope #CD00786

This Friday kicks off our holidays with our church Holiday Tea Party.  Each year, I take my ma a little gift.  This year I created a set of Christmas cards/envelopes.  I tied them up with some black raffia as a gift.

#CD00786 Holiday Sparkle by Visual Designs by Chris - used the stocking
Stamps:  "Merry Christmas" on inside and Rose Bud & Vine Border as the garland
Mini Star Punch
Colored the garland with Copics
Rock Candy Distress Stickles
Cuttlebug Embossing folder
Smidgeon of black ribbon to hang the stocking
Cardstock:  Bazzill

I mounted the stocking onto black cardstock and trimmed around it so the design would show through and also so I could pop dot it.

Halloween mug using Chris Durnan's cutter file

I found these customizable mugs at the Dollar Tree a few weeks ago. As soon as Chris posted it, I loved her ghost border. I knew it would be perfect for these mugs. I cut it with my Cricut and layered it on a piece of Halloween print paper. Best of all, I can remove the ghost liner, store it in a file folder and reuse the mug for another of Chris's great creations. Thanks Chris!

Thanks you're a real peach! card

Oops, I thought I had sent this back the first week of September.  While we were on vacation, my parents' peach crop was ripe.  I like to go help make butter, pie fillings and such, but my ma did all the work on her own this year since I was gone - yet I still reaped the goodies.  *smile*  Anyway, I made her a card as a thank you.  I wanted to use the "peach" theme.  Chris didn't have a peach file, but I found a digial image on bing.com and combined it with THANKS from her file #CD00177 Thankful Titles 2.  I love the title files!  I use them over and over.  Since the peaches were digital, I used the file in Photoshop Elements added some text and shadows then printed it out.  Added bling to the peaches, ribbon and a little hand stitching.

It's actually designed to be a journal of thanks and blessings, but I love that it can be cut to make a fantastic thank you card. You can find the cutter file here. I cut the detailed image from a pattern paper, inked the solid background image, and layered it all on a patterned piece of paper for the card. Super quick, yet I love how it turned out.

I bought this necklace a couple of weeks ago when we were in Green Bay. It's very nice, but I wanted to do something to make it more personal.

I decided to make a charm to go on the necklace. I printed a picture of us at the practice field and cropped it to 1"x1". I picked up the charm holder at Wal-Mart of all places.

For the other side, I cut Chris's "G" file from her Green Bay Packers collection and put it on a piece of yellow cardstock. I added a lobster clasp and a green bead.

I added the charm to the ring with the other charms, and now I have a personalized necklace with a photo from our trip.

You can find Chris and all her wonderful files here. And guess what I saw in her store tonight - the newest QMC! Go check it out!!

#CD00934 from August grab bag

I used the Fall leaves from Visual Designs by Chris (File #CD00934 which is a part of the August grab bag).  I stamped the leaves with a scripty word stamp using a dark brown ink.  The sponged the edges with some tea dye ink from Tim Holtz.  Pop dotted the leaves and added a little bling from Michael's.  Layed some other die cut leaves that I had in my Fall/Halloween/Thanksgiving bin.   Used a Bazzill sewing template and crochet thread to create the blowing of the leaves.  A McGill punch for the tab.  Handwrote the title "Thanksgiving 2011" with a micron pen.  Patterned paper is Paper Studio.  Added a little ummmpphh with layering a Tim Holtz die cut.  I had created the little note cards and had everyone write what they were thankful for.

Card using CD00750

I created this card as a thank you for some friend's who let us use their Lake house for vacation a few weeks ago.  The cutter file was perfect (#CD00750 from Visual Designs by Chris).  Pretty simple, just added jute rope for a rustic look.

August 2012 Grab Bag layouts

Chris and members of the More team at Visual Designs by Chris have a wonderful Grab Bag available this month for the great price of $7.00US .

Click on the preview to take you to the Store for this great deal.

As a member of Chris's CT I have the privilege of working with her fantastic personal cutter files (KNK Zing   and Maxx, Cricut, Silhouette, etc) only I work with them digitally. This way I get to combine my digital scrap-booking work with personal cutter files which I can use digitally as well or mix up the two for hybrid projects. In this instance I took all of the files Chris sent me and used them digitally on my pages. I add textures and styles to the cutter files to give them added dimension, and they work perfectly.

These files are all in this months Grab Bag, so don't miss it! These are just a small sampling of the files the Bag contains. Plus, there is an Early Bird file available for quick purchases, but only for a short time.

Firstly I used CD00934 - Autumn. My favourite time of the year. The Word Art is actually a personal cutter file that I have added textures and styles to. I created this layout in Photoshop CS5.

Credits:  CD00934 - Autumn; cshneider-seq5to8S2-pg2;   wlop - Vivaldi; APD_Mystic Springs; aprilisa_Built Boy Tough; armina - April; BellaGypsy - GoOutside.

Second layout uses CD00935-Happy Halloween. In this layout the title "Happy Halloween", the Witch and the Moon are the personal cutter files. Once again I have played with them in PSCS5 and this is the result.

Credits: Shappy Princess-Holiday Sampler-Halloween; image from Internet; CD00935-Happy Halloween.

My third layout uses CD00936 - Got Mud. The title and the ATV Quad bike are the personal cutter files in this layout. As we don't have a quad bike, the pictures for this layout came from the internet.

Credits: cap_goteam_template2; CD00936 - Got Mud; GDS_Collab_Jun12_Mr Adventurous.

My last layout uses CD00938 - Fish Fish. My hubby and my eldest love fishing, actually the youngest likes fishing too, it just isn't always practical to take him along for a day long trip. The "chipboard" boy holding his catch and the title are the personal cutter files on this layout. They look great don't they!

Credits: CD00938 - Fish Fish; GDS - Collab-0609_Catch Of The Day; cap_KeepItEven_Template 3

As you can see, personal cutter file description doesn't preclude you from using your files digitally if you wish. Sometimes, you just want to put a layout together quickly and not have to get out the card, paper and so on. Digi is sometimes the better way to go.... but unlike digital scrapbooking files, you always have the option of cutting them out on your personal cutter as well!!

Have a wonderful day wherever you are! Cheers, caz

I found this frame at Wal-Mart of all places. It's one of those plain wooden frames that you can paint however you like. I put a green coat on all three of the frames, then cut Chris's G jumble out of vinyl and put it on the middle frame. I painted yellow over the top, let it dry, then pulled the vinyl off. Can't wait to get back up to Wisconsin to get some more pictures to put in these frames.

You can find Chris's Packer set here. And you can find all of Chris's fantastic cutter files here.

Wedding Frame using #CD00216

We had a wedding on Friday and I used a Visual Designs by Chris file to enhance a store-bought frame.  The frame was made for three 5x7s.  I decorated the middle one and Whit can add two vertical 5x7s of her choice.  I used file #CD00216.  Rather than cutting it out, I uploaded the .ai file into Photoshop elements, sharpened it and added their names and dates at the bottom.  Just printed on white cardstock using black ink.  Then enhanced with flowers (Prima - small yellow and Hobby lobby - large pink and premade ribbon flowers), white lace, pearls and swirly pearls, an "I do" glitter sticker and leaves cut from the Stampin' Up bird punch.  Then added a little heart stick pin from Heidi Grace.  I have used these little hearts in so many things.  About to run out and wish I could find more!  The little strip of paper was cut from their invitations so I made sure to match their colors.

blank card using Chris Durnan's cutter file

I used Chris's cutter file to make this quick little blank card to send to a friend. I used different colors of glitter glue to add some sparkly to the centers of some of the flowers and the bee's wings. You can find the cutter files here - it includes all 26 letters.

June 12 Sketch Challenge

I wanted to participate in the Jun12 Sketch Challenge as well as use some of Chris's files digitally. So covered two needs with one layout!

I have used CD00925-Corner Flourish; CD00698-May Flower; BK00428-Plant Grow Bloom; and Ileana's Sketch as provided. Photo is from the Internet, digital kit is mine.

I have taken parts of the personal cutter files and added styles and textures to them within Photoshop CS5. My digital layouts are designed to show that personal cutter files can used digitally without always getting out the cutter. I usually use the AI version of the cutter file as this imports into Photoshop really well. Sometimes I open the cutter files in my cutter software (KNK Studio or MTC), separate all the pieces and then export the file as a BMP. This then allows me to use the file in Photoshop once I have removed the background from the bitmap.

Thanks for looking,

Have a wonderful day wherever you are!

Outta this world card

I made a card using a couple of Visual Designs by Chris files.  #CD00735 Rocket Book and her Cupid heart border.  The card is for my hubby.  I cut the rocket and the exhaust trail from her files.  Numbers were cut from Quickutz Frankie.  Mini buttons threaded with DMC thread.  Moon is a 2 1/2 inch punch.  Star and exhaust bling are from Michaels.  I stamped the rocket with a word stamp and navy ink and mounted it with pop dots.  "My love 4 u..." and "is outta this world!" are Dymo red tape.  Added a white paper clip and red/white/blue ribbon.  I mounted the moon a little above the card.  I supported the part sticking up with another small piece of black cardstock.

Dolphin library pocket

A library pocket for our Gulf Shores mini album.  I used the dolphin from #CD00584 Dolphin Silhouette.  The tape is Tim Holtz.   Crocheted border used as waves from Michael's.  So are the blue pearls.  The tags were cut from an Accu-cut die.  Scrap ribbons.  Word stickers are from Authentique.  I printed dolphin facts from the internet.

CT Layout for VDBC

It seems as though it has been forever since I posted a layout created for Chris from Visual Designs By Chris (VDBC) . Chris, and Lori of Beloved Keepsakes fame, have a QMC that has just finished and this is one of Chris's files from that collection.

I have used CD00921 - Soccer for this layout. Steve has just started playing Soccer and this week came home with the "Player of the Week" trophy and certificate. Chris's file was perfect. I have added textures and styles to the cutter files to add dimension, but this layout has also been designed to show that personal cutter files can also be used successfully to create digital scrap layouts as well as traditional paper and card.

LO Share: Beach mini album - page 11

Sometimes I start out a page with an idea to use a specific cutter file; but sometimes, I'm not intending to use one at all.  That was the case on this mini album page.  Then... it just needed a little something.  So I used just a piece of the file "Swimming in the Lake" #CD00748 from Visual Designs by Chris.  I cut the grass - one of them twice.  I pop dotted two of them.  Other materials are netted ribbon, a seashell charm, pearls from Michaels, words from Authentique, ribbon and a designer paper clip.  Love these pics of my girls.  I wanted a nice photo of them at the beach but then Savannah started being silly and one thing led to another.   *smile*  I just kept clicking the shutter button.

This is page 11.  The previous page 11 was page 12.  *wink*

LO Share: Beach mini album page 3 - using #CD00869

Another page in the beach mini album.  Patterned Paper is old Studio K from a K & Co pad.  Words are from Authentique.  Fiskars scallop border punch.  Pearls and crochet border were recently purchased from Michaels.  A few buttons from my stash threaded with a yellow thread.  All about those little details!  The cool summer scene is cut using #CD00869 from Visual Designs by Chris found here:

Beach Mini album

I am creating a mini album for our family vacation to Gulf Shores, Alabama, in 2009. I used some Accu-cut dies at my local scrapbook store to cut the pages placing a piece of chipboard between the cardstock to give it some bulk.  I think the pages are about 8 1/2 x 5 1/2.  The cardstock I used is textured with a white core so I sanded the edges and the entire surface of the paper. Many of the images are mounted with foam squares to add dimension and texture to the album.

On the cover page, I used a seahorse and seashell from Packet of Seashells from VDBC #CD00284 that can be found here:

I am doing the pages out of order but on page 11, I used two different seashells and a star fish from that same file.  There are several images in this file so I will be able to use it throughout the album.

Cover page:  I used a netty kind of ribbon, a beach coaster that I have had for ages, a shell charm, a "family" sticker that is old old old.  Remember slide mounts!  I stamped this one with a sand stamp then printed the word Vacation on my printer.  Wrapped some white jute rope that will be able to be used on the page on other side as well.  I used a pink heart mini brad on the seahorse and to get a visual triange of hearts and pink, I added two Heidi Grace heart stick pins.  They are stuck in the foam square that is attaching the coaster to the page.  Behind the coaster is some cardboard with the backing torn off and barn white acrylic paint dry brushed onto it.  To include the theory of threes, I also dry brushed the shell and the seahorse.

Page 11:  used the netty ribbon again.  The PP throughout will be some ancient K&Co. paper from a pad that I bought maybe a decade ago.  It will help pull the album together to use papers from the same line.  A few mini brads, some word stickers, a little bling from the $1 bin at Michaels but it happened to be half off.  Bargain!

Will share more as I get them finished.

Valentine using #CD00913

I cut the cupid  from #CD00913.  Added some lace ribbon, a heart sticker, a bling heart sticker and some pearls.  The Forever tag was something from years ago... Memory Makers maybe?  Patterned Paper was from the early 1990s (LOL - yes, I am a hoarder!) - Keeping Memories Alive.  Rounded a few corners and used a Fiskars border punch.  This one was perfect with the cupid.

picture frame using Chris Durnan's cutter file

I used Chris's digital cutter file "Love" to decorate this picture frame. You can find it here.

I printed the picture with a blurred effect in photo shop and added the cut pieces to the mat in the picture frame - which I found at the Dollar Tree. I just love how this turned out!

Valentine's Day card using Chris Durnan's file

This great file is part of a file set in the Quarterly Membership Club. I love how cute this is. I cut it, matted it on a piece of black paper, and layered it on a piece of patterned paper with pink birds with tiny little hearts on each one. I stamped the greeting inside and instant Valentine's Day card. Here is the link to the newest QMC.
