Christmas gift with Chris Durnan's Angel File

I used Chris's angel file - part of her "The Gift" QMC club - to make this Christmas gift. I cut the angel out of gold vinyl and put it on this ruffled red charger. The Gift QMC is still available, but hurry - you can find it here.

Christmas card with Chris Durnan's file

Here's a quick and elegant Christmas card I created using Chris Durnan's file - Side Cut Ornaments. You can find the cut file here. I cut the ornament from red cardstock and adhered it to a gold patterned paper. I added some green glitter glue and rhinestones - instant Christmas card!

LO: Alice's Adventures in Wonderland

This layout got a bit busy but Alice in Wonderland sort of makes my head spin so it is fitting, I suppose.  I used a 5x7 of my girl with her friend wearing the Mad Hatter hat.  One of her friends took some sideways photos so I turned them the way they were taken and that sort of set the tone for the bottom of the layout.

Supplies:
"A" & "W" Chipboard letters
"dventures" are old rub ons
"IN" was Making Memories letter stickers
I made all of the other word bars to mimic the "IN" using Benderville font.  I inked the edges after trimming with black
Tickets:  from a drawing from a tea party at church.  I always keep everything.  Ya just never know.  *smile*
Patterned paper and the floral border were leftovers from a retreat kit.  I had wanted some red roses (painting the roses red) but didn't have any
Black bling: Prima
Red bling:  Paper Studios
The leaf shaped bling and the bling used in the centers of the flowers and on the chipboard letters were a K & Co. collage bling that I cut apart.
Cards from a deck when the girls were little and they lost some of them.  Kept them for a rainy day.  It was raining yesterday when I did this layout! *smile*  I knew I wanted to use the King and Queen of Hearts and some Jacks (Knaves) for the layout.
A bit of black lace
A pocket watch charm
Folk heart brad
And the creme de la creme:  A white rabbit cut from Visual Designs by Chris #CD00581 Silhouette Bunneis with Sparkle.  I just took out the sparkle and then stamped it with red ink using a time themed stamp from Just for Fun.

LO: Things that make you say Hmmm...

This was such a fun layout!  Savannah has such a quirky sense of humor and these photos reflect that humor.  Photos from her Freshman year.  Title is "Things that make you say Hmmm..."  The border is cut from Visual Designs by Chris file #CD00811 Groovy.  I used scrap strips of paper from a We R Memory Keepers scrap pad.  The sticker letters, arrows and corners are from that pad as well.  All brads are Spare Parts from Hobby Lobby.  The border below the photos is Fiskars.  Added details with a chocolate Zig Writer.

Gift card holder using #CD00895

I made this giftcard for a poor college student who is trying to live in his own apartment while going to college, playing soccer and working part time.  I will tuck three or four fast food giftcards in it.

I cut the card from #CD00895 Apron Invite from visualdesignsbychris.com.  It cut as smooth as butter.  The papers were scraps - red was Dejaview and the patterned is from a company that was a forerunner of the scrapbook industry and I bought a ton of their stuff but I don't think they are in business any longer: K & something Memories.    Added ribbon for the strings and neck and a few brads.  The greeting is a Studio G stamp from Michaels $1 bin.  The sticker is from Michael's also for $1:  Crystal Stickers by Mark Richards.

thank you card with Chris Durnan's file - CD00715

How elegant is this thank you card? It cut like a dream. It's so pretty on it's own, all I did was layer it over a patterned piece of card stock. Instant thank you card. This file is a great value, because it comes with two other card fronts - a congrats and I miss you card front - and an underneath layer with tiny stars! You can find it here - Astrology Double Layer Cards.

I have been working on a huge project for Rebekah and Chris to celebrate Lachlan's first year. I cannot believe that he is almost a year old now. This album started out life as a mini 4" x 4.5" and just kept growing.. a bit like Lachlan! The finished item has a cover of 5" X 10" and I have gone from 1" ring to 2" rings to hold it all together. In this day of iPhones and Facebook  and so on, not many photos are taken with an actual camera and certainly not many are printed out to share. I had to source these pics from phones, Facebook and my little supply I had on my camera. It has been a lot of fun creating this album and I really hope that Chris and Bec love it.

The album is made up of little pockets with tags in and other pockets that just hold pictures. The tags have photos attached or spots for journaling and I have added in extra pockets and journal spots in case they have extra pics I missed or want to add their own thoughts. The whole album was cut on my KNK Maxx, even the covers, which are paper covered cereal boxes. I had to purchase a Crop-a-Dile to punch the holes in the spine, but what a perfect reason to make the buy LOL

As well as my own designs for the album, I used a couple of cutter files from Chris Durnan and Jan Bryson from Visual Designs by Chris and The More Team! . From Chris I used CD00413 - Tab Book and CD00665 - Just a Pocket (can't find this one in the Store yet) and from Jan, JB00212 - Itty Bitty File Tabs and JB00486 - Joy Fold Card .

Supplies:

DCWV - Cardstock
Little Yellow Bicycle - Snugglebug range  Journal spots and Rub-on
Creative Memories and Xyron - Memorabilia Pockets
Brandcorp - brads and photo tabs
Cre8tiv - paper, word stickers and chipboard Alpha
Dotty's Craft Shop - Alpha
My Imagination - Ribbons
Kaiser Scrapbook - stamps
Versa Color - stamp pads
Ranger - Archival ink pad
Creative Memories - corner rounder and pens
Xyron - "X" , 2.5", 5" and 9" Sticker Makers
Scotch ATG gun and Magic tape
Glue Glider Pro

and these are just a few pages :)  I am so pleased with the way it turned out... what do you think ?

Have a wonderful day wherever you are!

cheers, caz (cut on my KNK Maxx)

jackolantern with Chris Durnan's file

This project was a year in the making. I bought these fake pumpkins at Michael's last year when they went on clearance. I bought the light (the kind that goes in the Christmas village houses) after Christmas at Hobby Lobby. And the "G", well it came from Chris of course!

The "G" is from Chris's file set - Pack Collection. You can find it here. I cut the G out of cheap drawer liner material and put it on the pumpkin. Then I used a craft knife, a dremel tool, and a metal finger nail file to first trace, cut and smooth the G. I cut a hole in the bottom and put the light in. Reusable jackolantern!

VDBC 3rd Anniversary Challenge

Another challenge being held over at VDBC is being run by Jan of Sam and Hailey Designs. It is a Colour Challenge. Well, you all should know that I love Colour Challenges.... seems like I just need someone to present me with a colour palette and I am rushing off to start up Photoshop and see what I can come up with.

and with a new digital scrapbooking kit and a file from Chris, I created this layout. A few years ago we went on a boat cruise out of Victor Harbour, South Australia. We were hoping to see Whales, but got Dolphins and Seal Lions instead. We still had a wonderful time, I love being out on the water, and if you look closely (and I mean really closely LOL), you can see two dolphins surfacing in my pic! The star speckled Dolphin is CD00584 - Sparkle Dolphins available HERE . I have added styles and textures to Chris's file to create the effect you see here.

Created to show that Cutter files can be used very successfully digitally.
Thanks for looking,
cheers, caz

Halloween 2009 using #CD00770

I used patterned paper I have been hoarding *smile* from My Minds Eye and Making Memories.  The crow was cut from Visual Designs by Chris #CD00770.  I added some black bling for his eye and a few other places.  I love using photo collages!  The layout sort of evolved.  I accidentally cut the upper right paper too short which led to the black strip of paper.  So I matched it on the other side with an orange strip to ground the pumpkins and the crow.  The strips led to the buttons (black threaded with orange and orange threaded with black).  Which led to the black swirly bling.  Love a happy accident!

This catches up my Halloween album!!

layout with Chris Durnan's SVG cutting file

Hubby and I went to Cumberland Gap over the Fourth of July holiday. I saw Chris's file of letters that look like pieces of road and knew it would be perfect for a Road Trip layout. As always, you can find Chris and all her fantastic files here. Another Quarterly Membership Club is getting ready to gear up, don't miss out!

Shadow Box using VDBC #CD00807

I am a board member for a Dental Coalition in the county where I reside.  We are trying to develop resources for adults who cannot afford dental care because improper dental care can lead to so many other health concerns.  I made this shadow box for a silent auction for the Dental Coalition. I used a Visual Designs by Chris file #CD00807 Tending My Garden.  However, I totally cut up the file for the hearts.  *smile*  I cut them out of white cardstock and used my Copic markers to color them.  I used some old stash of Heidi Swapp photo corners so whoever wins it can interchange the photos as they desire.  FAMILY are chipboard letters that I'd had forever as well.  The flowers are a mix of Prima and a silk flower arrangement from Hobby Lobby.  The butterfly is a Sizzix die and embossing set.  I added a Tim Holtz safety pin for the body and a little chalk to the body for texture.  Some bling for the flight pattern.  All of the patterned papers were from a DCWV (I think) pack from Michaels.  K&Co. Fabric brads and HL jeweled brads.  I stamped LOVE LOVE LOVE on the hearts and used stickers for THIS LIFE on some banners created with a Stampin' Up punch.  A little ribbon and a string of pearls and I'm calling this done.  The shadow box itself was from Hobby Lobby (great use of a 40% off coupon!)

GRADUATION DAY LO #CD00285

I used the title only of #CD00285 GRADUATION DAY from visualdesignsbychris.com.  Perfect!  Smaller flowers and brads are from Hobby Lobby.  Larger flowers are Prima, I think.  Black bling swirls are Prima.  A bit of clock patterned paper cut using a Tim Holtz die.  I will add a few clock charms when I find them.  *smile*  I had a little help from my friends on this layout.  The parenthesis were from a prize package that Jeanne/PAWS sent in.  I think they were part of an overlay but I cut them out.  The center of the large flower was a bobby pin that Sue/PAWS gave me.  Thanks ladies!

I love the photo of my youngest daughter kissing my older daughter.  She is good at those last minute surprise shots.  *smile*  And also the one of my crazy bro choking Sierra.  So typical of their relationship.

thank you card with Chris Durnan's files

Aren't Chris's files great? I made these two thank you cards with Chris's files. The Thanks is from her Thankful Titles 2 file. You can find that file here. The sun is from her Lazy Summer file which was a part of her Quarterly Membership Club. I inked the edges of the suns with an orange ink. Then I used black ink on the edges of the patterned paper. Instant Thank you Cards!

Anniversary Card using #CD00807 and #CD00550

Nothing like waiting till the last minute.  *smile*  Today, Jeff and I celebrate 28 years of marriage.  He still make my heart pitter pat.  I am SO blessed!  He is working today so I was able to play in my studio (with Zoey's help LOL) and make him an anniversary card.

I used two Visual Designs by Chris files:  #CD00807 Tending my Garden for the heart flowers and #CD00550 Love title for the word "love".  The other letter is Katie Mini from Quickutz.  I cut the flowers out in white and colored them with my Copics.  Added a sheer yellow ribbon to bring in the color of the lettering.  The inside says "grows & grows" cut with the Katie mini.

recipe card with Chris's file

I just love using Chris Durnan's files on my recipe pages. For this recipe, I used her file, Chili Pepper. You can find it here. I cut the star off the top of it. I also cut the peppers in half, down the middle and placed it on the edge of the page. I'll use the other half of the peppers on another recipe card later.

Sweet 16 birthday card using VDBC #CD00731

My baby girl turned 16!  *sigh*  And she definitely fits the SWEET!  She is a tomboy so I went for the denim look for her card.  I used a Judikins stamp.  Stamped it twice using faded jeans Ranger Distress Ink.  (The detail of this stamp required that I brayer the ink onto the stamp rather than dabbing - not sure why that makes a difference but it makes a HUGE difference in the image.)  I cut out the pocket on one image and pop dotted the sides and bottom to the card base that had the same image stamped.  Added a little distressing with Old Paper Distress ink and a sponge to the pop dotted pocket and the few areas of the edge of the card.  I used just the birthday sentiment from Visual Designs by Chris file #CD00731.  I used mini brads for the dot of the i and the point of the exclamation.  Added a few stitch marks with black thread.  Cut the 16 from Sizzix Fun Serif dies.  The "sweet" was from a K & Co. package from years ago.  Added a green brad to pull the color of the dots from the patterned paper of the 16.  Topped with a green button that was pre-threaded.  I drive myself crazy sometimes with the little details.  *wink*

Graduation Card using VDBC #CD00832

A card for my niece, Spencer, who graduated yesterday.  What is it about Pomp and Circumstance that makes you bawl like a baby?  LOL  My girls were making fun of me because Spencer came out before the ceremony in her cap and gown.  I was looking at her thinking of when she was a baby and of moments as she was growing up... then the thought crossed my mind that I was going to hear Pomp and Circumstance soon and I couldn't stop the tears.  *sigh*  The wedding march has the same effect on me.  LOL  I used part of the Visual Designs by Chris file #CD00832 called Senioritis '11.  It pretty much made the card.  Added a few dotted circle stamped images, some bling and a ribbon.  Enhanced the 11 with a little white pen stitching using a chalk writer from Zig.  Used my corner chomper on two corners.  Of course, red and black were her school colors.

Graduation Cards with Chris Durnan's files

Here are two graduation cards I made with Chris's Graduation borders. These are two of the borders she included in May's Grab Bag. You can find the Grab Bag here. I sized each page border down and layered it on top of a graduation themed piece of paper, matted on black. I also cut a small graduation cap out of black and placed it on each corner.

Class of 2010 using #CD00487

A pretty easy layout but I want to really focus on the opposite page which will be just Sierra.  I used just the diploma page from the mini book file.  It is dated 2009 but I can still use pieces of it for other things.  The diploma page made a perfect tag to add the year.  She graduated with a class of 254 so I used a little yellow bling jewel to mark her.  She is in the very center of the layout.  Added a little bling on the diploma tassel and up on the right side of the border to follow the theory of threes.  Used a Fiskars border punch.  I wanted to cover a large portion of the top of the photo that was the gym ceiling and metal gagetry hanging down.  A bit of sheer ribbon since it was a bit plain.  Also used Sizzix alpha and Khaki mini from Quickutz.

This Senior album seems to be never ending, but getting closer to being done.

Fish Story

I have used a couple of Chris's gorgeous files in this layout. Recently my hubby and son went out for the day to test out our newly repaired Tinny (small aluminium boat). They were out for a long time with no success and just as they were about to pack it in, a couple of guys showed them their catch and directed them to a new spot to try. Apparently they couldn't pull them in fast enough. We have more fish than I have ever seen and.... for the first time ever, Gary caught some fish we could eat! (and they are yummy too)

I have used CD00240 - Fish Jumble and CD00316 - Fish Stories for this layout. As I create digitally, styles and textures have been added to the cutter files. Layout created in PSCS3.

LO: Senior Awards using two VDBC files

Photos from Sierra's Senior awards ceremony.  I enhanced the photo on the right side in PSE8 adding the names along the bottom of the photo and creating a glow to sort of quickly find Sierra amongst all of her goofy friends.

On the left side, I used a VDBC file #CD00725 FLOURISH FRAME.  This cut so smoothly and is an absolutely beautiful frame.  I added just a bit of black ink so you could see it as it was layered on the patterned circle.  I used a Mojo Sketch 182 (http://mojomonday.blogspot.com/).

For the right side, I used VDBC file #CD00632 ACROSS THE PAGE.  This also cut very smoothly.  However, I was using a short piece of paper and had it turned the wrong  way so it didn't cut the full 12" across.  Happy mistake I suppose because I really like that it doesn't go the full length of the layout.  Added a bit of blank ink for texture.  This side was Mojo Sketch 183.  Sheer ribbon was tied and then wrapped to the back and taped.

Supplies:  I picked up the patterned paper this week from FKS (sorry don't know the manf.). It was double sided so the stripe and floral are the same sheet of paper.  It is beautiful paper!  Prima flowers.  Glitter brads from Hobby Lobby.  Bling from Hobby Lobby (Paper Studio and Prima).  "awards" is cut from Quickutz Marissa font.

Light my fire... #CD00529

Our Mikie Boy enjoying the fire place.  Used just the fire portion of file #CD00529 Roasting Marshmallows from Visual Designs by Chris.  The title is cut using Quickutz Calvin. This was going to be a quick layout.  LOL but then I tried using the sewing machine which never cooperates.  I am certain it is operator error.  *smile*  The machine pierced the holes but I went back and used a thick thread and hand sewed it.  I like the thicker look better.  I hadn't planned to use hearts here but the sewing machine ripped a hole clean through the paper so I covered it with the hearts.  The larger one was cut using my Accu-cut machine and the primative heart die from chipboard.  The smaller one is a punch.  Inked them up with Distress inks... Wild Honey, Marmalade, Tea Dye and Brick red.  Then added buttons that I thread before glue dotting.  The fire and the smaller heart are pop-dotted.  Patterned paper is some old Kaleidescope.
