Sometimes a layout just needs a little something as a final touch. That's where I added the arrows from the Essentuals file #CD00277. I used the arrows as bits for journalling as well. Fonts are Sizzlets funky brush and a block font from my local scrapbook store's die cut area. I cut the BAND out of some gold scraps that were on the die cut table left from the previous cutter - perfect! Allowed me to create a visual triangle with the gold of the trumpet (a Jolee's sticker) and the trio of brads in the upper corner.

I know this may look odd without the photo but there is a reason. I still wanted to create a layout for her 7th grade portrait but also wanted to honor my daughter's request not to display it so it is tucked away into the pocket page at the end of her 7th grade album. Why do schools take photos on a hot day right after gym class?? Duh! Anyway, I used a scribble from the Foofaraw Collection #CD00309. Patterned paper is old Basic Gray. Brads are Spare parts. Tag is stamped with a PSX set called Antique using chalk ink. The tag is pinned on with a Heidi Grace pin.

This was a part of the January Make it Your Own challenge as well as the January sketch challenge. I used the music jumble from #CD00437 and the January challenge free file for the scalloped rectange and the tag. The muscial-themed ribbon was from my local scrapbook store. The tiny notes are a punch. I used the Basic Grey font to stamp the title on the tag and then inked the edges with chalk ink and added a piece of red ribbon. The photo is pop dotted and then the tag is pop dotted with dots two high. Gives a real 3D effect in real life.

New Layout

Hi, I have just finished a layout using Chris's Butterfly Edges available in the Store. I love Butterflies so as soon as I saw this file I knew it had to be one that was added to my collection :)

I have used Chris's file digitally by taking the AI file into Illustrator and saving it as a PDF. I was then able to open it in Photoshop CS3 and work with it as a digital file. I applied a glitter style to the file which I thought was quite effective. I have also used a digital scrapbook kit called "Love Buggies" by Kristin Aagard.

This is a recent photo of my DH, Gary whom I adore!

Thanks for looking!

cheers, Caroline (aussie_caz)

Challenges Challenges Challenges - lol

I finally finished the challenges :). I did a two page layout for the musical jumble challenge. We
were to use the musical jumble file. At first I thought I'd have to make a card then I remembered our Christmas pictures :). I add the "you make my heart sing" file seeing my son happy does make my heart sing :). Sorry about the uneven scan on the one page.

For the sketch challenge, I enlarged the scalloped piece from the challenge file to used on the left side of the page. Then cut a second one to add to it at regular size to put on the top. I also used Chris' Home for the Holiday's file and trimmed the edges to make it look more like an overlay. I finished cutting the small pieces from the challenge file to use for journaling. I cut the tag from a piece of patterned paper.

The two holly charms on this layout were colored with sharpie markers. These and the present and musical note charms from the first layout are from A Charming Place .

New layout for Make It Your Own Challenge

Here is my layout for the new Make It Your Own Challenge over at the Forum. I have used one of the Musical Jumbles available in the Store or if you are a member of the QMC, you will already have access to it. These are great files, I love the fact I could use it as a mat under my photo in my layout.

'til next time...

Cheers, Caroline (aussie_caz)

Hi there

Hi all, I am the newest addition to Chris's CT team. My name is Caroline, but I am most commonly known in the online scrapping world, as aussie_caz (caz). I am a digital scrapbooker as well as enjoying scrapping with paper and card. I am (not so) patiently awaiting delivery of my new toy, a 15" KNK MAXX cutter. I am really looking forward to being able to cut the great files I keep finding on the web and using them in my scrapping, both digital and physical.

Here is a layout I completed for the January Sketch Challenge using Chris's cutter files digitally.

These are some pictures of my son all kitted out in his new cricket gear. I have used the sketch for the challenge as a base for my layout, used Chris's cutter files as digital files and used a kit that I designed called "Lichen"

Meeting Belle

We went to DisneyWorld over winter break and spent a lot of time in line to see the Princesses! Olivia was excited because she got to see Belle twice... once in her blue dress and once in her fancy yellow gown. These are of Olivia and Belle in the blue dress.

I love the Be Our Guest file. Chris is still tweaking it to get it up on the site, but it should be there soon!

Enjoy!

New Monthly Challenge... Make It Your Own!

Get ready to create! Each month we will use a different file from the QMC to make a project that is all your own… layout, card, or other paper project. I will post mine first to introduce the file we will be using. If you are not a member of the QMC, that’s ok, you can still participate by purchasing the file from the store individually… but, if you have been thinking about joining the QMC this is a great reason to do so!!! Once you create your project, post it here under the right challenge and you will be sent a coordinating file for free! How awesome is that??? So get ready to make it your own!

Here's our first challenge... Musical Jumbles. You can use either of the 2 jumbles.

I created a layout, but cards, home decor, and other paper crafts are also very welcome! I look forward to seeing your wonderful creations each month!

Here's mine... post your below!

Thanks!
Dana

Wanted to Share...

I did a two page layout using Chris' Paint Diva file. I couldn't find it in the store so don't think she has it loaded up yet. I also used a Shelly's Art file (Paint Roller and tray) from PT. They go great together. I started with a light tan cardstock and used MM paint on it before adding the pictures and dies.

I also make a flip calendar for a challenge on another forum. I used Chris' Brackets, arrows & swirls (not in the store yet) and Fancy Swirly Accents file (which is in the store) on a couple of the months. The heart charm is from A Charming Place. TFL.

gift bag and tag

My husband's boss always has his Christmas party after the New Year because everyone is so busy. So I needed an extra gift bag for the party. I used Chris Durnan's card file - Contemporary Happy Holidays - for the bag. I just cut the card front and glued it to the bag, letting the green bag color show through. And for the tag, I used her tag file set - Holiday Tag Package. The bag was a hit, if I do say so myself.

Bouncing Around I know!

I tend to bounce around when I scrapbook anymore. I used to do it chronologically, but I have tried a new approach to get over my creative blocks, and it seems to be working well for me. This is a layout from my grand daughter Chloe's Fall photos. I just love this photo of her. It shows her personality to the "T". I once again used the Core'dnations cardstock that I just recently purchased for the background. I sanded the top to allow the bottom color to come through which is such the Halloween Purple. Then I used Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist to give it a soft shimmer. The pumpkin border is the bottom layer from the Pumpkin Patch File from Chris. This file is so versatile that is can be used with the top layer for spooky pages or alone for pumpkin patch pages.

Finally back to scrapping!

It's been a while, but I'm finally back into scrapping mode here. Here's a couple that I have done in the past few days. Hope you enjoy them!!
The first one was inspired by my youngest grandson's letter to Santa. You see, he's in first grade this year and learning to spell by sounding out the words. It took us adults a while to translate this one. :) I can't wait until I can show him this in a few years. I've decided to make this a yearly tradition and and see the improvement from year to year.
The second is a birthday card made from one of Chris's latest files. I really enjoyed making this one!
Until next time, HAPPY SCRAPPING!
Karen

Happy Holidays

This layout is of my daughter Alexandria having her picture taken with Santa during Brunch With Santa in December. I used the Happy Holidays Title and Poinsettia from Chris to highlight the photo.

Cards by Wendy

Here are a couple of cards that I made to send my son now that he is living across the country. I loved using these fun colors for Christmas Cards! On the card on top I brushed glitter on the edges of the willows to add a extra punch.
