New Layout using CD00621 - Sledding

Bet you never thought you would see a layout like this from me! LOL Although we are sweltering here in Australia, my daughter is enjoying a true winter in the States!

These are some photos of my daughter enjoying a recent heavy snow fall in Virginia where she is working as an Au Pair. She is having a ball having never seen snow like this before. We don't get snow like this in our part of Australia. The children had a lot of fun sledding down a small hill near their home.

This file from Chris Durnan was perfect for these photos. This is a personal cutter file CD00621 Sledding and this layout was created to show that these files also work perfectly digitally!

Christmas card with Chris's files

I made these Christmas card with two of Chris's files - Curly Frames or Borders and Ornaments Galore. I cut three of the ornaments and one border then backed the border with the alternate color. I love how how these turned out.

etching with Chris's files

I wanted to dress up these plain little bowls before giving them as a little santa gift. I used the snowflake from Chris's Cupcake Wrappers Winter file found here. If I had more time, I'd add more snowflakes to each one, but I need to get these delivered tomorrow.

Another Card for Hanukkah

I had to make another card for Hanukkah using these latest files from Chris's QMC.

I have applied a metal style to the Star of David border and the Menorah from CD00631. I copied the flames from the mat for the Menorah, resized them and added a gold style to one layer and a glitter style to the second layer to recreate a flame like appearance to the candles. The Star of David cutout is from CD00630 - Hanukkah Tags and I cut this from the front of the card to reveal the layer underneath.

Happy Hanukkah using CD00631 from VDBC

Chris has the most amazing personal cutter files as part of her QMC . For a small cost you have access to over 20 files to download. This set of files was a recent addition to the QMC. I have used the Star of David and the Star border from CD00631 to create this card.

I love that Chris takes on as many different requests, beliefs, likes and dislikes as possible. She is truly dedicated to providing the best there is!

Card created in Photoshop to demonstrate how easily personal cutter files can be used in Digital programs.

Autumn Beauty - CD00158

These are some pictures of the trees lining the main road into our little town this Autumn. It was wonderful to watch them all change colours during the year, but this has to be my favourite time of year.

I have used a personal cutter file CD00158 - Autumn Beauty which was perfect for these photos. This file includes the mat of leaves as well as the Title.

A layout designed to show that cutter files can be used very effectively digitally!

Thanksgiving layouts

I was able to work on my Thanksgiving album this weekend. For last year's photos I used a VDBC file THANKSGIVING from #CD00172 Thanksgiving Traditions. Sometimes all I really need to finish off a layout is a nice title. This scripty lettering really enhanced the papers I had chosen.

For my 2009 photos... let me just say I don't think in the history of my 12+ years of scrapbooking have I ever scrapped photos within the week they were taken. LOL For this layout, I used THANKS GIVING from #CD00177 Thankful Titles 2. I like to complement my other cutting systems (here, the Sizzix) with the use of my Wishblade. The title from this set was the perfect touch to a quick and easy layout. Made it look like it took longer than it really did. *smile*

I signed up for the planner swap on Chris's Forum - http://www.visualdesignsbychris.com/forum/. I used two of her files - the January is from her file Months with Flair - and the party hats are from her Hats & Balloons Borders file. Chris, you rock!

"Welcome Spring" using CD00623

Another gorgeous file being offered in Chris's QMC. This "Nostalgic Streetlight" is just stunning, I love it. I decided to use it as a "Welcome Spring" card which could be used as "Thinking of You" card. I am really pleased with the way this card turned out.

I have used a wood style on the streetlight and a clear acrylic style to simulate the lit lamp.

Join the QMC and add this, and many more, wonderful files to your cutter collection!

Novemeber sketch challenge

The November sketch challenge is up in the forum. This month we are focusing on creating a card to get us ready for the holiday season. The sketch is provided to us by Becky Fleck at Pagemaps and Chris has created several files to help you along.

Here's my version:

I had full intentions to follow the sketch exactly, but when I started to put all the pieces together, it just looked better off centered. Oh well, the joy of creativity!

I used Chris's Poinsettia Happy holidays It also has a nice title with the poinsettia that you can cut as well.
Supplies used:
Page Maps sketch
Foof-a-la papers
Kaiser crafts gem
Stampin up title stamp
Chris Durnan's Poinsettia Happy Holidays
SKU: CD00137

I would love for you to play along, so be sure to check it out. Rosalie

thank you card with Chris's files

How cute is this lady bug? I just love her! I used Chris's lady bug file - from her QMC club last quarter - and her bracket file from one of her sketch challenges on the forum. I cut a bracket from yellow, then reduced the size of the file and cut it from the purple. I used some skittles that a wonderful lady sent me to make the lady bug's eyes stand out.

Seems like this year there are more houses with really neat Halloween decorations. I decided to make a layout with a few pictures and found the perfect files from Chris. I used the word Fall from her Colors of Fall file and re-sized both leaves to sprinkle on the pages. Then I used her Web file - from her Quarterly challenge collection to highlight the huge spider that is on the side of one of the houses in our neighborhood.

New Layout using CD00605

This is my latest layout using CD00605 - Family Frame. This was one of the files available in the last QMC but you still have time to join this QMC which can be found HERE.

This is a photo of my In-Laws, my DH and my son and daughter on a recent visit to our home. This was my last chance for a photo shoot with my daughter as she is now working as an Au Pair in Virginia in the USA. Long way from Australia! My In-Laws just happened to be visiting at the same time, so we had a house full for a few days, it was great!

This file was perfect for this layout! The file includes the rectangle frame that I have used here and the Family title, but as an added bonus, also includes an oval frame as well! The frame around my photo and the "Family" have had styles applied to them.

Ladybug Friendship Card - CD00593 - Ladybug and CD00537 - Giggle Words both from 3rd QMC for 2009

I made a 7"X5" card and card front and then resized the CD00593 Ladybug to fit. The "Friends" word was exactly right for this friendship card and came from CD00537 - Giggle Words. Both these files were in the 3rd quarter QMC for 2009. Even though I reduced the Ladybug in size, it still cut like a dream and was easy to put together. This QMC is now closed but the 4th and last QMC for 2009 has just opened so get over to the Store and take advantage of this great deal ... over 20 files for just $10.00!

Isn't it cute!!

I love this photo of my son and have scrapped it several times. I look at it and wonder... what are you thinking ? Chris's new file "Random Thoughts" went really well with this photo, I had to use it again!

This layout has been created in Photoshop and I have applied a bevel to Chris's file to lift it off my page.

Pastor Appreciation Poems

I'm on the committee for Pastor Appreciation. A fellow committee person found these poems and asked me to make them into something that could be framed. They will be put in matching black frames. Not sure if you can read the poems as my printer won't print black ink even though it has a full cartridge. I printed in a tan to match their decor, which turned out better actually.

Used Visual Designs by Chris files cut with my wishblade... #CD00401 Butterfly Border. I've wanted to use that one since I saw it. Such a beautiful file. and Fancy Background overlay. I love love love detail and like when I can use my other supplies to embellish. Here I used some other punches. Punched the butterflies using navy diamond dust paper with a silhouette punch by Marvy. Also added bling to the butterfly body and brads and other bling to the punched flowers by 2GRRRLS. The added greenery is a Family Treasures punch. The butterflies on the cut out file were painted with mustard Radiant Pearls and then the punched butterfly glued over it.

Birthday Card using CD00562 and CD00596

Another creation using Chris's fabulous files. I wanted to make a Birthday Card for a little girl and Chris's "CD00562_Birthday Bear" was perfect. This was a file available in the QMC but is now available in the Store. Also handy was "CD00596_4th-6th Grade" from this quarters QMC! This card was created in PSCS3 and I have used a felt action on the Bear and the 6th.

A New Vue

This is a layout about the new car my mom bought for me in August. I had been wanting a Saturn Vue since they first came out on the market and she gave me the opportunity in August to fullfil my dream. I have driven nothing but Saturns since 1992, and it was just a antural progression to move up tot the SUV. The paper is from DCWV and the key file is from Chris' New Car Smell file.

Sandra's September Challenge Layout

Here is my layout for the September sketch challenge at VisualDesignsbyChris. I selected my picture first then went looking for papers and had a hard time finding something in my stash to match the colors in the photo. I finally settled for black, white and the wave paper. I used bazzil leather looking paper to cut the swirls and title frame. The small top piece of paper is the back of the wave paper. Just small yellow dots and lines and some orange dots, you can barely see them. The photo mat, title mat, and swirls are all in the challenge file this month. I love all the elements from the file. The dragon fly charms are from, where else ... a charming place.

Homecoming Court

This layout used two of the VDBC files... Spring Swirls #CD00577 and the little sprig from the free September 09 sketch challenge. I cut several of the little sprigs. One for the right side and I cut several apart and stuck them in amongst the Swirl on the left. I cut the flowers off of the design cut and added the primas with pearl centers. I created visual triangles with the primas and the gold Flavia sticker dragonflies. May add some swirly pearls to the bottom left yet. Haven't decided. Didn't have any handy. These swirl files were perfect for this layout. Was so excited when I opened the file!

Sandra's Latest...

I'm so excited! I finally got to cut and create. I had to cut one day and create the next but it got done:-). Here they are...

The first is my page layout for the August challenge. From the file, I used the background cut (Bazzill) and put it on top of a patterned Bazzil. I added the paper piecing (which I LOVE), the torn notebook paper, small border piece and 2 arrow photo corners. I added Arrow charms from A Charming Place to each photo corner. The title is my own. Now I just need to do a couple of more pages to finish the story. Oh all my pieces except the background are cut from Petallics paper.

Next is a quick card I made for my son's best friend. He had his Eagle Scout ceremony this past Saturday. I used the new spring swirls file from the Quarterly club and one of the birds from the April Challenge file. The title is my own.

And my last card is for a sketch challenge on Paperthreads. I needed a small border piece for the card so I used the one from our August challenge file. The large daisies are from Sam and Hailey Designs Paper Blossoms file (JB00068) and the centers are from Shelly's Art Buttons Galore file (SS00116). The silver butterfly is from A Charming Place

Latest layout using "Can I Keep It"

I received Chris's newsletter today and, on going to the Store to check out the sales, saw this great file! My son-in-law loves creepy crawlies and also has a collection of wonderful creatures which he and my daughter adore. I had a great picture of a huge spider we found at home one day after being out all day. I also found some pics of him and his pet snake, "Ripley". Unfortunately, they are not as clear as I had hoped as Ripley kept moving and, as he was wearing his Crocodile T-Shirt, not as easy to see as I would've liked.

So head over to the Store and check out all the great files on offer. This file "Can I Keep It" is available for just $1.00 for a short time.
